The DStv signal is received by a satellite dish, converted to an optical signal and distributed over the fibre optic network to the decoders in the customer’s home. In-home, the optical signal is converted back to a RF signal using a device called a Fibre Termination Unit. Any DStv decoder can be connected to the system (a DStv Switch is required for Explora decoders).
